WHO IS Dragonfly Films
“Few videos or films capture my attention as did Andrea Sadler's film, The Sacred Run, the lotus and the feather. Not only because of the subject matter but because of how it was filmed and edited. Andrea Sadler will be around making films for many years. I'm anxious to see her next project!"
Dennis Banks, AIM leader & Co-Founder of The Sacred Run & The Longest Walk 1 & 2, www.sacredrun.org, www.longestwalk.org “I hear everywhere, sure, I want peace, but how? The Sacred Run, the lotus and the feather, provides a map, a marvelous map indeed! Take your passion for peace, sprinkle it with your interests and culture in a way that seduces others around the world to join in and embrace the love of all people, everywhere. Spread the word!” Patch Adams, MD, Founder of The Gesundheit Institute, Arlington, VA "Not only is SACRED RUN a film that teaches and entertains, it is also a movie that takes you on a most inspiring physical adventure and then launches you out of the theatre or off the couch convinced that you can save the planet." Ezra Soiferman, Filmmaker, (MAN OF GREASE, TREE WEEKS) Montreal, Quebec “There are many heavenly guides sitting quietly in this film waiting for the viewers to watch and to remember our purpose here in the universe.”“I was moved at how this film captured the depth of my heart. The truths spoken and all the images seen remind us that peace on earth must prevail and all nations must come together to end war.” Fiorina Di Bacco, Reiki Master/Teacher, Toronto, Ontario “The Sacred Run weaves together the "feather" of ancient Native American wisdom with the "lotus" of Buddhism and indigenous Japanese traditions showing that all people are one at heart -- that we can be united in community, while honoring diversity. It is a powerful call for peace and justice. Manna Jo Greene, Environmental Director of Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, Founder of Hudson Valley Sustainable Communities Network “The essence of filmmaking is to teach and to share. I can offer no higher praise.” Murray Jurak, First Nations Filmmaker, Edmonton, Alberta “I was very honoured to be invited to your film. It was one of the greatest Native American films. You should be proud of yourself and your film.” Donna aka Blackwolf Sittingup, Lakota "The Sacred Run, the lotus and the feather" is one of most inspiring, powerful, awesome depictions of a sacred journey of hope, love and beauty. It reminded me of the hope and beauty and gift that it is to be alive at such a time as this; a time with so much potential for healing and true brotherhood. It reminded me of the commitment I have to do my best for my children’s sake and our future generations! ! The SAcred Run synopsisFirst Nation leader, Dennis Banks, with indigenous people from North America and Japan, were joined by volunteers from fourteen countries on a ceremonial run finishing in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Native wisdom is woven with Japanese traditions on this remarkable physical and spiritual journey of a diverse group of all ages, who voyaged 4,000 km along the Sea of Japan to carry the simple message, that All Life is Sacred. The film is a stunning inspirational portrait of individuals committed to promoting peace, respect for the earth and all life, and to sharing the rich cultural diversity of the human race. A lyrical film, it reveals that transformation of the individual, ripples out to touch the world with more consciousness and we can create the world we dream of. We are the ones we've been waiting for. wisdom keepersThe Sacred Run film reflects indigenous people as keepers of profound spiritual knowledge. Wisdom that has endured and is now being shared with non-native individuals searching for their own spiritual identity. Not only does the film portray indigenous culture but we hear from non-natives who are bridging Native spirituality with their own roots. The run, besides being a positive alternative to the cynicism and fear often found in modern society, is also the external action which often precipitates the participants' individual spiritual journeys.
The transformation of the individual is the key to peace. Dragonfly Films has made an inspirational film which reveals the spirit of the Run to further the message of peace and the importance of returning to a harmonious reciprocal relationship with the earth and all living things. All life is Sacred. message from filmmakerDragonfly Films is a one woman company, born with this labour of love film that took seven years to complete. As long as I can remember, I have been interested in following my intuition and allowing spirit to guide me in my life. In fact all of my films carry the theme of balancing spirit and matter. I firmly believe that we can connect to and benefit from a source greater than our individual thoughts and resources. Dragonfly showed up in my life at the same time as pre production of The Sacred Run, because they both carry the message of Transformation.
Upon endeavoring to make The Sacred Run, the lotus and the feather , I consciously made the decision that I would make the film using my intuition as I wanted to be a channel for the spiritual message of the run rather than direct it from my ego. I also intended that the film would touch, move and inspire people in their heart of hearts. Throughout the entire filmmaking process, I asked for guidance and received it through my dreams and intuition. I discovered that when I followed the symbols and messages, amazing things or connections would occur to assist me in completing my film. I basically tried to get out of the way and let spirit guide me. Making the film was a challenging seven year journey that I call my deconstruction / reconstruction period. I have found that even while continuing to promote this film, small miracles happen consistently and following my intuition has become a way of life. My own personal transformational journey is one of the background stories in the making of The Sacred Run and I have a rich store of anecdotes that I like to share for inspiration when I present the film. The film is about the interconnection of all life and the importance of connecting to the Great Spirit, whatever that means to you. We are greater than we are led to believe. I believe that this empowering awareness is what we are being called to awaken to for a better world and that is what I’ve dedicated my life to. I am passionate about touring with the film to raise awareness by giving presentations and creating or participating in multi-media events where the focus is on conscious positive action and cultural exchange. At each screening, I have invited a local Native Elder to lead an opening blessing. We wrap up with a circle ceremony where hearts and minds are shared, after the film screening and Q & A. If you would like to purchase a copy of the film, have me present the film, host a screening, use the film in a fundraising tool or would like to be a sponsor, a patron or get involved in future consciousness raising events, please contact me. Your donation or purchase of a DVD(s) will be a contribution to the promotion costs and to furthering the message of this film as well as supporting future projects. Although I am not currently in position to offer an official charitable tax receipt for any donations, please be assured that your gift will be used towards furthering the message of peace, taking care of our planet and each other, to raise consciousness about the interconnection of all life and to raise the vibration of love on our dear Mama.
